How would you feel about an unmanned probe making first contact with extraterrestrial life?

I mean i'm kind of confused about the whole idea, lets say unmanned probe A535 makes contact with an alien race, since the unmanned probe isn't sentient who then is credited with making first contact?





Would the designer of the A535 probe be the one who claims first contact rights in the history books?|||It would be an exciting discovery none the less. I would be surprised if it ends up being a probe anyways with the lack of manned flights now-a-days.


For the person who would be credited it'd probably end up being a list of everyone astronomer who was on duty during the discovery. A list of 3-4 perhaps.|||I would be very surprised if that were to happen in my lifetime, to say the least.|||It'll all depend on what will the A535 probe be able to do.|||They would probably ignore it...wouldn't you?|||well i'd be glad cause if they blasted it, then at least we would know their intentions
