Is it possible to probe my teeth to see how big my pockets are, without the help of the dentist?

So, I went to the dentist last month and had a scaling and root planning.

I was realllllly upset that my pockets were so big. About 5% were 1's, 5% were 2's, 75% were 3's, 5 % were 4's and 10% were 5's.

I want to know if there is a way I can probe the teeth myself to see if the pockets went down? Can I use a butter knife or something?|||The dentist has a special marked probe that has to be placed at the right angle and with the right pressure without injuring the gums. Leave it to a professional.|||Definately not. leave it to the dentist.
