What happens if you do not boil the probe before starting a Southern blot?

Can you boil your radioactive probe once when you first make it, put it on ice, and then put it in the freezer for later use and then not reboil it when you want to use it again? Is this something that needs to be done every time a Southern blot is done or will the one time be sufficient?|||I think that, to ensure that there's no DNA on it, you should always reboil. This decreases the chance that your method will be a variable that possibly alters results.

Of course, DNA is not very stable, so if time or motivation is a factor, then you're probably okay.
